Game Tap has opted out of 'Live' and opted into foraying their options..

foray - to invade, or make one's way, as for profit!!!!!

If this is all Gametap, then yes, I agree it's very shady. There's been posts on Mystonline forums for the past week for it.

But there are still discussions going on between Cyan and GT (as indicated by Greydragon), and we have no way of knowing if this is part of a deal designed to benefit MOUL in the future. So, I withhold anger until I know who exactly set this up and why.

There is a chance that Cyan is working on a way to be able to carry a live version themselves and not have to rely on a publisher. If that's in the works, then it's a long term agenda. Perhaps two years to accomplish by my guess? If so, they need a way to keep URU bringing in new people and since many of the cds aren't available anymore and what there is are dwindling down, this may be an option Cyan encouraged to keep URU bringing in more people to the story of Myst.

Ubisoft owns ABM still, so the agreement is with them. I don't know how that relates to MOUL ... publishing rights I guess.

And Cyan may be working on deals to get the publishing rights for MOUL transferred to someone else or themselves too, and this could be part of the deal.

Not that I'm supporting this ... nor do I have plans of continuing my membership to GT. It's still a big corporate mess of taking over the little guy and destroying his creation. I'm just trying to say this could have a positive result for us in the future.

I suppose GameTap and Cyan are trying to lure in a new generation with the chance to play all the games as they were originally presented. However, those of us who already OWN all the games can play them solo for free, just as we always could. No reason at all for me to give GameTap another nickel.
