PostSubject: Guild Counterparts and information   Guild Counterparts and information Sm-compass50Fri Jul 04, 2008 11:24 am

I'm starting this thread in case anyone wishes to share what guilds they are in and the usernames, if they are using something different for the purpose.

I'm in Guild of Greeters as Ms. Isis
The D'ni Linguistic Fellowship as Gaerwyn
The Guild of Writers as Fachia

All made a very long time ago, and I need to wake them up now and tell them to get to work. LOL

I'm also going to make one for the Guild of Maintainers soon as Elpis.

I joined the Guild of Maintainers but I don't use anything other than SeanMc74.

I'm thinking of joining the Guild of Writers but I might wait awhile until I figure out how to use Blender and the tools for age making. I'm sure I'll have some time before user created ages make it into MOUL.

I had one avatar in each guild, but GoW is the only one in which I (as Inanna) have been active. The bottom line in all theatricals (and MOUL is a play of sorts) is: "if it ain't on the page, it ain't on the stage." I do not know how to use Blender. I looked at it and ran in terror. I am not a techie. I am a concept writer. There was a time when I worked as a concept writer for a computer game computer (failed dot com of the 90s) so I know some of what goes into making a non-linear story work. )Definition: A concept writer is the one who comes up with the story, back-story, characters and dialog along with detailed descriptions of every aspect of the game.)

Beyond concept each age requires graphics, music and 3D rendering. Most of us will only have one of the talents necessary, but I do not want to see anyone shut out because s/he can not do it all. I have always felt that the best means of creating an age is a team consisting of a concept writer, an artist, and a techie. La Casa is an attempt at creating an "age" -- if by age we mean a place to explore and secrets to reveal. I think ms. isis and I have gained valuable insights into the process which I hope we can translate to MOUL, but there is so much more to learn.

I’m working my way through the tutorials on the Guild of Writers websites for Blender. I’m the IT field, which doesn’t mean I know everything there is to know about but computers, but I am a quick learner and I find it confusing. I might need 6 months to a year to figure it out.

I agree the only way good quality ages can be written is with the collaborative efforts of team of people with those skills.

Once the UCC is possible we should sponsor a Myss Terrie’s Age project. A place that has all the things we want in an age IE: a firemable pit, our own door to open. We have some creative and talented people who could put that together.
