I didn't quite know where this topic should go -- could be a forum all on its own.

Yesterday I joined SL under the name Inanna Barrowstone. I have never felt so very lost as in SL. At least in MOUL I had some idea of what I was doing and I was supplied with a list of "neighbors" (none of whom ever spoke to me, hence the founding of a certain bevin). Isis and Colorado have been wonderful in helping me adjust, but I am a long way from feeling at home there. The money issue also troubles me. I went ahead and purchased an annual membership, but am not yet certain what that does for me since everything seems to cost more money, even if the exchange rate is favorable.

Still I am amazed at the work that has gone into creating Myst-based places. I am humbled that I can not even conceive of how such places and objects are made. I am trying to imagine what my ideal SL home should be, but the possibilities are so varied that I am just going to "live" in the caves above the Gira falls until I get it sorted.

Is there a Myst land consortium to purchase small islands for a relto ghetto?

Most times, you dont need a Premium (I think Linden Labs calls it that) membership to buy land. Depending on how much you want to build, you need a land with more prims. It's complicated in the beginning, but slowly you'll get used to it Smile My name there is Dhelayan Slade, add me if you want Very Happy

I have been spending time in the wonderful Tsogal area, remembering all those door missions and the classes I taught. SL is so vast and so diverse that it is hard to figure out what I am supposed to be doing or can be doing.

As so many here know, one of the driving forces of my life is to find a need and then fill it. In MOUL I founded this bevin because I felt that many newcomers needed more than the help given by the Greeters. The resulting group became so much more than I ever imagined it could be. Now I am trying to figure out what need I should be filling in SL.

In the Cavern I already had a basic understanding of the ages and I quickly learned how to guide others, then to guide them to guide -- and the cycle of giving went around. I wasn't expected to handle any tech stuff and that suited me fine. There was always something for me to do -- someone to help, a door to call, a class to teach.

In SL it is an entirely different matter. The creation of the world IS the world. I can't really express how amazed I am by all the work done by those who have put so much loving detail into recreating Myst in SL. I want to contribute, but I don't know where to start. Everything seems to involve the transfer of money and building with skills I have yet to master. I need direction and connection. In time I will find my place.
