Registration Requests -- Updated

Until we return to the Cavern where we can look folks in the eye again we are left with the mass assault of spambots all wanting to join the forum. Therefore here is my grand edict as Benevolent Anarch of the Bevin and its Forum:

No one gets admitted to this forum unless there is proof that the person is real. Thus if you have not been registered here before and you want to join you must post an introduction and registration request to the Community Room.

I am asking the mods and admins to refuse ALL REGISTRATIONS unless the registrant's reality can be verified. We apologize for the inconvenience, but there is no other way to do this because this particular forum service does not offer the additional "proof of personhood" functions.

May I also suggest that my excellent mods and admins research acquiring some sort of "proof of personhood" function -- image code to spell or a sound file that can be typed (we have both hearing and sight impaired members to consider).

I shall now return to deleting the long list of weirdly spelled all lower case "names" most likely residing in Romania.

I just checked in at the older forum where our newest member is ProniaZoof. As an admin I checked into ProniaZoof's information and the language choice is Bulgarian. I have nothing against Bulgarians, but it just isn't one of the countries sending explorers into the Cavern. I suspect a spambot.

Admins, when a new member registers with an unfamiliar name, please check the admin panel to see the new member's information. If they have chosen a language that suggests they are not part of the URU community, you may either (a) send an email that a real person must answer within 48 hours or (b) delete them outright.

I can't wait to get back into the Cavern, even if all I ever do is sit around the bevin and chat with all of you.

Sorry - thought I posted a request on the old board. Asking how to actually block this individual in our admin area. This individual is a known board spammer and I've been able to find him numerous times under different names. I left that one because as long as it's there, even if not approved, he seems to not create another one. I think I've deleted him about twenty times and one time I swear I banned his IP address or something. But *!@$ couldn't find it last time. If someone can figure out where I used it last time, please use it on him.

As for here, so far I've been able to recognize people and approve them without being worried about it. But, of course, I won't approve if I don't recognize the person.

Do there have to be 253 exactly? I think that might be upsetting for the monkys...
