I've been working since the first of the year for a publisher as the Sales/Marketing Director. I will be turning in my notice with that publisher along with my suggestions. He seems a bit incapable of running a business and dealing with massive life crap at the same time.
But in this process, I've teamed up with two other trusted colleagues and we're opening another publishing company together. One will be a full fledged partner in the business with me, the other will be the head of the Editorial Department. Still laying out all the ground work for this, and just now initiated the paperwork. Once we have the tradename secured and the partnership paperwork filed properly, I can announce it. Plan on starting operations in January and accepting submissions in February.
Just in case that interests anyone...sigh...
Anyways, this Sunday is the kickoff for National Write a Novel Month.
Last year I wrote the novel for the M'nine exploration age, which Gandhar helped me by reading it to see if I missed any of the copyright issues and made a few graphics for it.
This year, is a book about a woman who gets caught up in this game with an atmosphere like Uru. She's stuck at home through emotional crap from an accident that also left her in a wheelchair. The internet is her escape. Through the game, she learns to make friends again and to live life again. It's an urban fantasy book, so I've put in a race of beings and one actually makes the game real for her and one other person to bring out that fantasy element.
This book is inspired by the stories people have told about their own experiences with URU: Myst Online over the past few years. And Cyan, of course.
And yes, in tribute, one of her in-games buddies will use Gandhar for his avvie name.
