I finally found the bad code, rooted it out, changed my password and re-secured the site. Explore and have fun. Yes, there are things that happen during some visions -- you just have to keep exploring.

Unfortunately, the major FoF archive was lost with the death of my external drive, so what you see on the site now is all there will be until I figure out if any of the data can be retrieved.

BTW, if anyone wants to contribute something to La Casa, just let me know. FoF is open to art, literature, characters, plot lines, whatever. If you have an idea, please share.

If anyone's not sure how to go about participating, but would like to try, I'm willing to take on a partner in my storyline. Or even help guide someone to make their own story.

Myss Terrie has experience creating game storylines, and I'm a fiction writer in my other life. I'm sure either of us or both can help guide you until you feel comfortable taking off on your own. Or work in a partnership, if that's what you would be more comfortable with.

New Addition to La Casa:

If you wander the grounds, you will meet Sophrosyne. At the bottom of that page's encounter the compass gives to the choice to Return to the Front Gate or to Continue Exploring the Grounds. If you choose this latter option you have the choice to inhale or not. Since nothing here is dangerous I suggest that you breathe deeply and see what happens next.

And ms. isis and I are adding more story lines as well as opening up the site to include work from other authors. We do have some technical and legal limitations that I can discuss with you privately via email if you are interested in involving yourself and your characters at La Casa.

Explore and enjoy.

In addition I have three offices for D'ni officials in M'nine that are ready to be created. I don't have a software program to create them, nor the time to learn Blender. If anyone is able to create the offices for me, please contact me. I'm thinking of snapshots that will end up laying out on Elpis's desk at LaCasa that Myss Terrie is getting close to adding in for me.

Beginning ideas can be found here:

Cool office!

This may work better as one of the other offices. There was a member of the Guild of Surveyors stationed there. This design fits that personality better. He'd be the only one with any kind of screen technology ... they didn't use it on M'nine. There's not much machinery either.

This particular building is not a building original to M'nine. The D'ni added it. First floor is a big open area with many larger tables with chairs taking up the bulk of space. Maybe ones that seat ten people at a time. A raised platform took up one end, as if a type of stage. At the other end there were two doors - one to a water closet (I decided to be un-Cyan like and put them in Very Happy ) and another next to it to a storage closet. You walk in the door that is in the middle of one wall - stage to your left, the doors in the right far corner. In the left far corner, next to the stage is a small set of stairs (going up to the second floor). The rest of the wall is either wall space or windows, no shelves.

Upstairs there are six offices. The leader of the Age, a member of guild of writers, a member of the guild of surveyors, healer, record keeper, and ship builder. (see link above for details on the first three offices.) The leader is a pompous, proud D'ni - of the type who would gladly be in charge of the slaves in Teledahn - I see his office being a lot like Sharper's. The writer is still coming out and I haven't grabbed his personality yet. But I see his office being a lot like Atrus'.

Eventually, this building will become the base for management of M'nine. The offices upstairs and downstairs will host re-enactments of D'ni lore and history.

There is a room found of D'ni literature, so if there are some good storytellers who want to give a good story, we've got a place for you.

Maybe this office will work. It might be a little too modern, however.

The colors are perfect. And the chair behind desk matches well. The visitor's chair's not as good of a match though.

This set up could work well for the writer, healer, or record keeper. I see the writer and healer as being more tuned in to nature. And the record keeper can have pretty much anything... he's not a nature person as much as the others, as he is a mathematician at heart.

I've created another opportunity for participating in creating material for Friends of the Fissure. If you'd like to create stories of the D'ni, go here

PostSubject: Re: Life Over At La Casa   Life Over At La Casa - Page 2 Sm-compass50Sun Nov 16, 2008 8:55 pm

Friends of the Fissure is an open story. Isis and I have created a basic story structure but there is room for all sorts of connected stories. Right now I do not have the time to put as much into La Casa as I did several months ago -- the short version of this is that a dear old friend died last week. I was hoping he would help me write my next book, but now I must complete it alone and dedicate it to his memory. At least I am motivated to get the book done, but it is so damn hard to lose friends. He was only 51 and it is so unfair that someone with not an evil habit to his name dies of cancer anyway.

If you have not taken the time to explore La Casa, you are invited to poke around. As in the Cavern itself, you can not be harmed and there is nothing on the site that would prove unacceptable for a family audience.

I have been adding books to the library bookshelf as well as some new experiences outside. Despite attempts to prevent the intrusion of D'ni plants into New Mexico, I find that a few have gotten loose. If we are lucky they are instanced plants and will not be noticed by state or federal agencies.

La Casa is a bed and breakfast. In addition to visiting, those who can imagine a tangential storyline, or just want to place a linking book to another site with a story there are invited to do so. If you can add or improve on the art I could use the help. I do need help with getting more rooms done -- Elpis' office is the next on the list. It should appear to be in a room of Spanish Mission architecture, but beyond that Elpis can have whatever she wants in it. (Go for the big flat screen, lady -- costs the same for us Smile )

Imzadi will need a kitchen and next to it is a laboratory for Sophrosyne. The toughest bit of art is out back where we have a traditional Navajo sweatlodge. Any takers on that one?

Dive in, folks.

PostSubject: Re: Life Over At La Casa   Life Over At La Casa - Page 2 Sm-compass50Wed Nov 19, 2008 6:58 pm

Well, I've been working furiously during my spare time over the last 19 days, but M'nine's story is finally done, along with an introduction to the next unknown Age. I still have some extensive editing to do before it's ready for others to read, but I have 50,000 words of material for anyone who would love to make snapshots of M'nine. (I could have some sections ready next week.)

Just let me know if I should contact you when I finish with the editing. I will also have preliminary sketches for more help.

I've also named over twenty-five animals, but only showed maybe five in the material, so if anyone wants to take my animal names and make a snapshot of the creature, that's an option too.

Elpis did have a digital camera for documenting everything in M'nine, so snapshots are very realistic for us to use.

Anything else, feel free to ask me - I just took the last two days off to finish this and my mind is ready to shut down from working eight hours (minus a lunch) solid, so I may be missing something.

Some very bad person who shall remain nameless got tempted by her teenage son to add a "feature" to one third of the bedrooms at La Casa.

There's no prize for figuring it out and please don't tell others what you find. Just let me know what happens as you explore the rooms.

I have an office for Elpis at La Casa. As soon as ms. isis adds her contribution there will be a new room to explore along with a link to ms. isis age of M'Nine.

Anyone -- absolutely anyone -- who has created an HTML based age who wants a link placed in La Casa has only to say so. Such links can be made very accessible or the subject of a hunt as you wish. The easiest version would be a book on the library shelf with a couple of descriptive pages, including images if you like, and on the last page an embedded link to your age.

All we ask is that you place a return link on your page so that folks can return to La Casa from your age -- just as we did when we got to Stoneship Age and needed to get back to Myst Island.

My site got hacked and that is how the stray code got in there. Took me forever to get it out.

With the proposed return of MOUL I am hoping that the guidebooks in the library will prove useful to future explorers. That said, it would be greatly appreciated if folks would check through those guides (second shelf, lower right) for any mistakes, clarifications and improvements. The guides were designed to do everything that the more common walk-thrus do, but in stages, allowing the reader to get only as much info as desired with warnings that turning the page will yield an answer rather than just a hint.
