-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Watcher’s Words are so important. In them are clues to the past, present, and future. Does anyone know of a group or site where discussions about the Words are held or located? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wow... good question. I'm not familiar with a group or Bevin like that. Anyone else? Rose, you may want to post this same question on the DRC forums. _________________ DedHed Proudly serving Myss Terrie's Bevin since 9662. Back to top Rose

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi Ded!
I posted it over in the MOUL forum; so far, no info on such a group or website. Someone suggested discussing it in that forum, which I think is a grand idea, so I'm now studying the words in earnest, trying to come up with a sensible, coherent post...it's harder than I thought - there's a mighty lot of words in dem Words!
Seems we're coming close to that time when we will have to make that 'choice' we've always been hearing about, and there are clues in the Words that may help us decide which is the right choice to make. Back to top

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please join us at the Friends of the Fissure. The bevin is for alternate avatars with an interest in the deeper meanings of URU. Several from Myss Terries and other bevins are there already. We are hoping to grow FoF to be an IC spiritual center for the story. The Guilds keep saying that DRC/Cyan wants our input. Well, FoF is part of that input, but it can't just be the few. It needs to be many.
We do not want folks to leave a bevin for FoF. We want folks to create an alt avvie for FoF, in part because the FoF needs to appear a certain way. The idea is to take very little from the Cavern, focus on nature and the bahro, and to ponder Yeesha, the Watcher, the Grower and Yahvo. The lady characters are "handmaidens, " the gents are "acoloytes." We have at present a couple senior members of the Order and one angel. I have also created a character named KoHama niDni, who was once Dr. Elias Zandi's lover while both were investigating Tomanha. KoHama is a human woman who moved to the Tomanha area just after college.
The FoF have purchased an old Spanish style mission that is on the far side of the volcano. We are still working out the founding of the Order, but I think it would have been created by Yeesha and has therefore been around for a long time.
The members (non-celibate, non-monastic) have been scattered among the various ages trying to understand what should be done about URU. With the DRC's efforts on-going in the Cavern, the FoF members have returned to the Tomanah mission and are coming into the city. They have a currently private bevin called The Fissure's Bevin, and are right now sorting out what we know and how we know it. That is why we need more brains creating the story.
This is role-play and story content. It is our hope that FoF can make a valuable contribution to Cyan's efforts. Even if Cyan ignores us, we can still have fun. If this interests you, please let me know and I will see you get registered for the forum at http://fissure.createforum.net.

I certainly don't mean to begrudge your efforts here. It all sounds very creative. I would like to point out though, that you will (not might... will) run into serious resistance, and possibly great animosity, if you try to introduce such non-canon history of major characters to explorers outside of the FoF. _________________ DedHed Proudly serving Myss Terrie's Bevin since 9662. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Perhaps she could have just met Elias while he was working and became interested through talking with him?
You really don't have to let others know the details of those talks, just have them written down for your own reference so they guide her actions and beliefs without getting into a character that's already created.
The avatar's name has a nice feel to it and I think she'll work well in the cavern.
She could still have had a brief affair with Elias, but no one other than you has to know that. Authors often have secret information of their fictional characters that helps them determine how the character acts and why. _________________ Formerly: ms. isis (Myss Terrie's Bevin) KI#06167776 elpis (Friends of the Fissure) KI#09853290 Former visitor: Myst Isis #13860991

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I don't know how helpful this will be, but... in the offline version of Uru, in ercana and Ahnonay, you'd see these little "postit" type notes all over, with a few numbers on them.. ex: 4:14 remember all those? My understanding is that those notes represented book # and eh, either line or verse number. rats, can't remember now if it was line or verse. So, 4:14 would be book 4, line (or verse??) 14,
Anyway, those notes related to specific parts of the 5 watcher books. And wherever you found those notes, was where the note was relevant. Well, that's my understanding...been a long time since I was in offline version.
for some reason, they took them all out of the online version. no idea why. _________________ "Let's put it this way, "Bob." you ARE a girl, and a girl with as much talent for disguise as a giraffe in sunglasses trying to join a 'polar bears only' golf club!" Black Adder Back to top DedHed

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I recall, all of those little bits of text were clues to help solve another puzzle that was located in the Watcher's Sactuary. I suppose they removed the clues becuase that puzzleis not currently part of the on-line game. _________________ DedHed Proudly serving Myss Terrie's Bevin since 9662. Back to top Azaia

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My recollection is like yours Ded, all those little post-its eventually lead to the Great Tree solution in a cryptic sorta way. Would like to see them re-insert all those clues throughout Ahnonay and Ercana just for the heek of it. _________________ Azaia "The Universe is uni-verse - one song, one poem, one verse" Satish Kumar Back to top ILLUME

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I suspect that Cyan is withholding the next sequence for the season opener -- whenever that will be. We know there is still the puzzle in Watchers and possibilities for Kveer and the Great Shaft. There are the ages from End of Ages that might yet be reworked and released.
Not every aspect of URU has to be a complex puzzle world. Some aspects of "game play" could be very simple -- interiors to the buildings in the city and the bevins. Perhaps some in our graphics group could come up with a design for a bevin apartment or a bevin office. What should be on the inside of the concert hall and the guild hall? Could there be a way to tidy up the Kahlo pub to make it attractive and operational as a gathering place?
I am working with several others on story content for those interested in role-playing. If this sounds like something you would be interested in, send a message to Inanna to add your name to the Maquis. _________________ Myss Terrie

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In response to your question ILLUME, no giant ball as of yet, and no way to the tree, Myss Terrie may be right in that these may be added for the new season. We can only hope and pushing that giant ball up and around was fun even though it was futile. _________________ Azaia "The Universe is uni-verse - one song, one poem, one verse" Satish Kumar Back to top Myss_Terrie

KoHama's role as friend, whatever, to Elias is not particularly important. It is just her connection to Tomanha. She has admitted to being some part of Elias' life and not a part that he would have announced nor she would have flaunted. She was upset when he died and she left the area, only returning now because she feels that is what Elias would have wanted her to do.
While some elements of Friends of the Fissure are non-canonical, they can not be completely denied either. Whether they go back as far as knowing the Stranger who helped Atrus or just formed last month is not really the issue (although I do think they ought to know where we came from).
What is important is that they have gathered and they care deeply about what happens to the Cavern and with the Bahro. They want to understand what Yeesha means, and not just what she says. They feel the need to stand for philosophical belief rather than the manufactures of the guilds. Above all, they are QUIET. It is hard to run into a lot of resistance when you stand for something but do not preach about it.
Cyan/DRC created two young girls and after a very brief introduction killed them both. FoF doesn't plan to do anything nearly as dramatic. They do not claim special connection to Yeesha or the Bahro. No visions, no annunciations -- although having Yeesha appear to just one person would be a very cool image. Just another nice bevin full of folks who want to help and to understand the deeper meanings.
They do need help -- not just members, but folks with ideas, folks who have done the research and have theories to present (I think that is your cue, Dimitrios ) FoF members have largely stripped down Reltos and do not acquire most of the things, including the Stack rings. While this may seem wonderfully self-sacrificing on FoF members' part, it also streamlines the process of getting another avatar up and running.
If you are interested in playing along, let me know. _________________ Myss Terrie
