I've decided that I do not want to upgrade to a premium account, rent a house or spend any money on SL. So, I'll remain on the free basic account.

Thanks to Azaia, I have the Myst folder with the landmark links, so I can see places. Landru was kind enough to give me a tour of the sim he lives in. I'm much more impressed with what you can do in SL than I thought I would be based on the prior experience before.

Still prefer the way MOUL worked over the SL interface, of course. And the graphics are better in MOUL. Yet, I'm impressed with how well they developed Eder Gira. It was like being back in URU, and it made me very homesick. I have not played with any puzzles to open more areas in it yet.

So, since I'm remaining a visitor, and my only reason for visiting SL is to say hi to my hoodies and other URU buddies... what should I do? Are there certain functions and locations I should note on my calendar to pop in at?

My plans are to visit a few times a week.

SL avvie: Issis Ceriano

There is a chance I'll go paying - depending on if my husband wants to be involved and pay for it. It's not much for the membership and the land isn't quite as much as I thought. But if I do, the purpose is for my creation Age M'nine, or even an extension of Friends of Fissure, or our bevin. Attending URU events and meeting up with URU buddies is my only reasons still for being there.

Also, my gestures are stuck on the male versions. Which is a bit disconcerting. Is there a way to change that?

More due to a few writing projects taking my time away - and getting greatly involved with Elpis's story with creating M'nine, I haven't spent a lot of time there or met anymore people in Myst worlds.

It is interesting me in making a few small meeting places for a monthly get together at some point, if we find out getting a myst online situation again will take quite awhile. If that happens, I will switch to a paying account so that I can create the building or buildings. Perhaps recreate the M'nine Research Center from Elpis's storyline that people can come and sit and chat in. No one else would have to have a paying account to use it.

It's not a good permanent solution in my opinion, rather a good place to learn how to create things right and get together. I have a good connection with a computer that's getting pretty full. So I usually teleport in somewhere and stand still for a moment or two, allowing the graphics to settle in before doing much. I suspect others will experience the same.

Also, the avvies walk like they have a corn cob stuck up their butt, and it drives me crazy.

But it is a start...

LOL, corn cob up the butt, Laughing you have to get an AO (animation override) to get a cool walk ms. isis. Sorry it took so long to respond but been learning how to script and possibly build in SL. Lots of MOUL people there and karoke is still evey Saturday at 6pm SL time which is 9:00 pm EST and that's as far as I can go with timezone translation. If you're there on those Saturdays just IM me and I'll tp you to the location.

Hard to say where to go SL is a big place, however the city by the tent and great stairs have been recreated and usually someone is there. The tp link is from Eder Gira big sign post that say Aeguera. Hope to see you there soon.

I've only been able to visit SL a few times - and I did meet with H'arp a week or so ago in there. Sadly, it had been so long that I had a hard time getting the hang of it for awhile. Trying to figure out how I can get play time for SL when something's going on. We have one computer and son is taking three online classes and hubby working overtime on it at night. Hubby is currently trying to revive one of the old computers for our son to use, but that could take awhile.

I am on the Myst Online Explorers mail list - I'll start posting here when I receive a notice in advance of something. Most are reminders of something happening right now. Not much good when it's the next day before I'm checking the email.

I do have a notice of:

"Group Notice From: SkydiverAnarta Fall

Russell Eponym in Concert

Continuing the presentation of Live music at the Cavern concert Hall on the 4th February at 8:00pm (SL time)"

I did get to explore Ae'gura in SL. Wow - it is really close to the actual cavern. Love the added lounge areas. Made me really homesick. There were a few in there. I was trying to work something when someone said hi to me and he was gone by the time I got back to my avvie. I said hi to another, but he wasn't a real conversationalist. He did say hi back though. Will try to get there when the dances are going on ... when I can have the computer, that is.

I had the notice about Bella in my email. Of course, it didn't say when, so I assumed it was happening at the time the email was sent - which meant I missed it anyway. Was sad. I had a tour of their place and it is beautiful.

Hubby just revived the old computer - it had been zapped by lightning a few years ago. Our son has it in his room now. So, if all he has to do is type in Word, then I get a chance at the computer again. When hubby doesn't need it for work that is - February is long for him. He's converting software systems at work this month and has to work from home also until it's done. But he's at the office this weekend, so maybe I'll snatch an hour and play in SL for awhile then.

I missed Bella's BD party on Sunday. Lol, took me all this time to realize I had a new password here in order to get in. Anyway, I am in SL as Jubie Watkins. Saturday Karaoke is always a good time to find me on, or some of the rest of us. SL certainly takes a bit of time to get used to. .I am still going in free and I rely on friends to give me places to log in etc. where I can be free to explore options. I'm still learning all along as well as I am not in there 24/7. Feel free to chat if you can while I am there though. And hey, anyone coming to Mysterium this year out here? Give me a holler

Yeah...uh...I haven't been able to play around there in a while. Last few times I got out right away because I kept going back and forth while there was something going on. And the "greeter" kept shouting to click picture above her to join the fun.

She's great. She's friendly. I even chatted with her a little, but I needed a "quieter" moment at the time to deal with life stress and she was a bit much for me. LOL

I do need to get back but things are so busy for me right now - and I'm wrapping up one Age project and preparing to start the next one during my URU time.

I finally did it..joined SL a few days ago. It's somewhat disorienting at first and so different from MOUL, I think I just need time to adjust. But I don't hate it like I thought I would. I'm Atheni Nayar..so if you see me please say hi. I'm still figuring things out so If I don't respond quickly I'm not ignoring you, just don't know what the heck I'm doing yet. Embarassed

Don't worry...I'm still trying to figure it out! LOL It's not that hard, just different.

I friended you so hopefully you see that. I was on a bit this weekend, but as it was right after they finished fixing things and got the grids back online, I was the only one around. Not that I don't like that, mind you. But seeing a few people around is nice once in awhile.

Spent time in Complete Chronicles today out of foul mood desperation. I've forgotten some things, so I think I better replay it!

In SL, be sure to look around at things and make notes. Clues will lead you to solving a puzzle to get somewhere else. Unfortunately, I lost all my notes, so I have to go hunting again.

Shorah Ms Isis I got you friend invite. I've been spending most of my free time exploring. Found some really cool builds. I went to a couple of parties but had difficult time communicating, not sure if it's lag, me or some bug. I know some places have life music, but not sure how to hear it. One thing is for sure SL is HUGE. I think it would take many months to explore everthing. If anyone has still has the MYST Folder with the land mark links. I would like a copy. I've found a few.

I'll send you a folder of what I have. Plus you should join the group Myst Online Explorers. I think if you look at your friends list and click to see my profile, the list of groups I'm in are clickable too so that you can join. Can't remember for sure. I just experimented until I figured it out.

Added: Okay, I sneaked in there on my work time. Shocked

I see you're already a member of the groups. When they send you an invite, usually there's a landmark with it. Make sure to indicate that you want it...I usually teleport to it to, just in case that helps keep it.

I tried to move the myst landmark folder over to your profile, but it said you are offline, inventory item is saved.

Let me know if it doesn't show up for you.

You want to use the Eder Gira link and then go to the board with all the pictures after you teleport in. The pictures take you to certain areas when you click on them...for me, the symbol is a chair when I have the cursor in the right position. Not sure if that's normal, but there you go.

I sent you an invitation to connect as friends.

Also, if anyone likes to know what's going on with the world building there, Nalates has a cool blog at http://nalates.wordpress.com/

Honestly, if I was able to pay off and keep one of my cards free, I'd rent a spot in SL for us. The Tokatah rooftop is for rent...and so tempting...

July Schedule for Eder D'URU in SL
http://blogs.openuru.org/duru/2009/06/eder-duru-update-june-29th-2009/

I did join this group, but haven't done anything yet. I have been going into SL at least once a day for a short time to explore, relax, check things out, etc. It's the Bahro for me. I just gotta be where they are calling cause I love listening to them. Need their call on a noise machine for me. LOL

I like the idea of hoodmates meeting in SL. Speaking of which I received a notecard that the Peli Shard is up and they are excepting registration request. They have all the MOUL ages, Crowthistle and Myst 5?!! Has anyone been to this shard yet, I would love to check it out.

I clicked to keep the teleport location, but it discarded it and I couldn't get the message back. I was going to check it out last night. Could you send me the information?

My last five got discarded...I thought I hit the right button, but I did it so fast, I guess I hit the wrong one.

I looked at it and I think it's just a note card with their website, no teleport location. http://www.pelishard.net/ ? Wasn't Pelishard open during Beta testing? I think it's the same group.

Perhaps you're right. Can't remember. I just thought maybe they made a SL version too. I couldn't find anything using the search feature.

For those of you missing the Kahlo Pub, here's pics of the version in Eder D'URU
