When Isis first pointed out the annoyance of the ads on the original forum I wasn't sure how this move was going to happen. I just want everyone to know that I am really happy to see folks coming over here and posting. Never fear. We will maintain the original site for as long as it is needed. Even if it just becomes an archival site where one of the mods posts a note once a week or so to keep it going, it will be there. The action, however, is going to be happening over here.

I will be checking both sites as often as I can. Just for those who might wonder where I have gotten to, I have started work on a new book -- a novel about the Civil War-- again. Yes, the war that will not die, will not end, for which there is always a market of the historically accurate tales I tell. Still I am looking forward to the getting back into the Cavern. After a few hours of fighting a long dead war there is nothing more wonderful than to enjoy life with the living.

I am fairly new to the whole Civil War thing,,,,,although I just started reading some transcripts,,,,this is interesting to me....I find it bizarro.....to say the least

1,008 officers were appointed to the various General ranks on both sides during the American Civil War.

In the Union Army, for most of the war, there were only two General ranks, Brigadier and Major. In 1864 the rank of Lieutenant General was reactivated and given to Ulysses Simpson Grant. The three grades were distinguished by their insignia: one star for Brigadier General, two for Major General and three for Lieutenant General.

In the Confederate Army, by 1862 there were four grades of General: Brigadier, Major, Lieutenant and Full General. All wore the same insignia making it impossible to identify a Generalīs rank by his uniform.

Now, oh my gosh, What rank do we give Myss Terrie?

Well, Charura, if you ever want to get heavy-duty into Civil War you should just email me and we can natter on and on. I already have one book published on the subject and not working on the next. The war just will not die, will not end, but it makes good copy.
