| Speculation time, I’m thinking they’ll allow some sort of fan run shards. I just don’t think the money is there for Cyan to run it themselves. But I'm not convinced it will be all good news. |

| It's a start. I'm choosing to be happy about it and not speculating on what wasn't said... _________________ D'ni : “Ash nazg durbatuluk ash nazg gimbatul ash nazg thrakatuluk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul”

| I'm in the camp that believes that Cyan is planning to allow the fans to run a version of MORE or UU2. Unless Cyan has landed a some development deal where money is coming in I can see how Cyan on its own could do anything with this. I would love to see a fan run MORE because of the creativity and the technical skills of this community. Some time next year we could see return of the hood and URU. Just speculation at this point. |

| I check the forums everyday and I'm not sure if I'm excited because we finally got a response from Cyan or if maybe there is still some hope we will be back in the cavern someday. Either way still holding out hope. | Quote: | | What MORE could you ask for a word from Cyan | That's a good one Azaia. lol |

| Word from CyanIt looks like Cyan is open sourcing Myst Online. Good or Bad? This does mean we'll get to be in cavern again next year. See you all soon I hope. |

| It's good and bad. Good to see it survive. Bad in...well, that depends. For me to participate I'd have to be able to get another pc. This is a work pc and I cannot take the chance of losing it for open source such as this. Guess I better get to working and make a name for myself so people will hire me and help me buy that pc. Also, good that Cyan is still emotionally connected to the cavern like we are. That means as soon as they are able to get back to it, they will. Please keep track of this for us - I've started a new book for parents of runaway children as therapy for myself and don't have the spare time to troll all the boards right now. | I received word from Amber Horizons that Cyan is releasing its source code. Although I can not make use of this (not a geek, remember?) I am certain that our devoted bevin mates will be able to breathe life back into our beloved URU. And if we can make La Casa function like the Cavern I will be happy to do what I can. Of course, as a non-geek, I am not certain what it really means to have the source code. Could someone give me some specifics on how this would work for us -- both as a bevin and as a community? _________________ Inanna

| We need a shards101 class. LOL If I can get that second computer, I'll try it. Once they start putting together the details fully, perhaps someone in the know could start a thread teaching the others how it works and how we can hook up to it. Including system requirements. _________________ D'ni : “Ash nazg durbatuluk ash nazg gimbatul ash nazg thrakatuluk agh burzum-ishi krimpatul”

| Sadly, I do not even know what a "shard" is, at least the techie variety (glass, pottery, but not programming). However is there is a way for us to contribute the talent that is evident throughout our bevin, let's show it off. If someone can show me what to do, I will be happy to turn La Casa into a functioning "age." _________________ Myss Terrie

| A central shard I think would be ideal, particularly just starting out while the community figures what direction to go. I think inevitable there will many many shards, a lot of people have their own visions of what they game will become. I don't have a opinion of what direction to go, IC OR OOC. If I have to role play (which I was never comfortable with) I'm sure Myss Terrie can give me some pointers with. I miss everyone terribly and I want to make ages. I will support the guild efforts on a central shard. I just hope my computer can handle it. |

| As for me not really that interested in building ages don't like to think that hard on something that's suppose to be relaxing but you never know which way you're going until you start down the road. Just want to get back to the cavern and enjoying the company of good friends. Like you Atheni, I will try to go for a central location until I get and idea of what's going on. When I finally got accepted into the Damala shard it was closing down so still don't have a clue how they work. Since this uncharted waters for us all I'm sure it's mostly going to be a wait and see honeymoon period until we have found our niche in this new cavern. So let's just be positive and go with the flow. _________________ Azaia |
